Dear Head Nurse, My father Albert Borys has been with your facililty for a couple of weeks now and my husband and I noticed that after the medication he was given, I asked nurse Al on Saturday, 5/11, what that was and he said Seroquel. After taking this medication my father became very agitated, seeing spots, became very jumpy. We spent the whole day w/him and he was much better before he was given this pill. He became very confused. My father needs to see a doctor who specializes in the treatment of Dementia/Alzheimer's, which as a family we are looking into now. This pill was started while he was in Hartford Hospital and the doctor that gave it to him wanted our feedback on how he was after receiving it but when we were leaving the hospital the doctor had already left, and in the hospital it seems no one gets their messages. We also think this pill enhances his Sundowner's. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

My Mother is presently a resident at Gino Merli Veterans Center in Scranton. She has dementia/Alzheimer-symptoms, but is physically well for 84. Her unit was closed and she was arbitrarily moved to a new floor and given a new room mate, a few months ago. Other services have been cut, and overall, I am unhappy with her care at this point. It breaks my heart that I cannot have my Mom live with us but we are not able to handicap-access our bathroom or find private care for her during the day at this point. A friend spoke highly of your facility and I would like to talk to someone in regards to possible transfer of my Mother's care to Birchwood and/or perhaps come and tour the center. Our Dad has been in Pohai Nani for a couple of weeks now and he is making steady improvement. The staff at Pohai Nani works hard to provide its patients with engaging activity, good nutrition, and most importantly, their sense of dignity in a difficult and personally challenging time. This is the worst place I could have ever chosen to put my dad. He was actually referred to Regency Health Care Center by Olathe Medical Center. When I went to visit him one day after he was admitted, I walked in and there were workers smoking outside the door. The food they had given him was a scoop of mashed potatoes, no gravy or anything and another scoop of something else that had no familiar taste to me or my step mother. His diaper was so wet that it was bunched up in the front so we have no way of knowing how long he had sat in the wheel chair in the soiled diaper. This was on a Sunday, and I spent all day that Monday getting paperwork taken care from Sweet Life of Rosehill to have him transferred immediately. I voiced to the social worker that I would not allow my dog to stay at their place. It smelled of urine, it was dirty and frankly unlivable for human being or animal. The place had one nurse for probably 15 patients. I wouldn't even rate them a 1 but I had to choose something.

I visited this place about three or four months ago and the visit is still extremely fresh in my head. Before I made this toughest decision of my life, I had bugging thoughts that people in Nursing Homes wouldn't show that tender loving care to their clients thinking that they could help themselves all throughout their stay. Putting a loved one in a nursing home is not an easy thing to do for any family. I understand that now more then ever. When my father passed away my mother was left alone to take care of herself. Needless to say she cannot take care of herself and at the age of 85 she needed supervision. I live in a different state as my mother and although I did not want to put her into a home this was really the only option that I had. I have three kids of my own and my husband is disabled so it is up to me to bring in the majority of our monthly income. However, it has been almost four months since my mother has been staying here and she seems to be in good spirits. I am much more at ease now knowing that my mother is getting the care and the attention that she so badly needs.

visited my dad yesterday. upon arrival, caregivers were really accommodating and nice. the elders there were all friendly, each of them that passed me said "hi" and gave me their warmest smile. the waiting area is huge enough and very comfortable. when me and my dad were finally together, the caregiver escorted us to their garden which was really awesome. blooms were all over the place and there were lot of shades to stay on and the air was really cool. i really had a good time with my dad yesterday. i am now at peace seeing my dad's beautiful condition.

Stay away from this facility. Our family chose Oakwood because they promised us it was an end of life facility where our Mother would be cared for for the rest of her life. After 2 years there in the independent living side she moved to the assisted living side and was asked to leave after 3 weeks. She went from self pay to the medicaid waiver when she moved. We were on vacation when we received the call. They gave us 30 minutes to get there or they were putting her on the street. They ended up sending our mother to a psychiatric ward in dayton ohio so they could officially discharge her without giving her tennents rights. They know their way around the system. They do not care about the residents only the bottom line. Beware.

I have visited my aunt here yesterday and I was very happy seeing how caring and personal their staff are towards their residents. I love the light and bubbly environment they maintain. Also, i didn't have hard time visiting my aunt, they assisted me right away and the caregivers were very friendly. Me and my aunt spent time in their leisure room and it was fully furnished and you can see how they secured their furniture for the elders' safety. Lastly, my aunt's friends here baked some cookies that time and everybody enjoyed the snack while sharing some hearty laugh and stories and the caregivers were also there mingling. Every second of my experience is really overwhelming.

The nurses here really, really helpful! Mailboxes are kinda far from the room of my sister, who is their resident here, so they are really nice to deliver all the letters, post stamps, stationaries and pictures we sent her to keep her updated. I don't know what's with this nursing home but every time I visit my grandfather here, I always encounter bad experiences. Either I speak with snobbish and disrespectful nurses or being held in the lobby for long hours. I am an inch away of calling the higher management of this facility and report my nightmares. And if that was all it was. the most egregious problem was that my mother entered under one contract, and then after one month was told that the contract "was no longer viable" and that she would have to sign another contract with terms very disfavourable to her, or risk "moving at the end of the month." the result of these hard-ball tactics by a "salesman" who is a former banker (enough said) was a gain of nearly $50,000 to Royal Oaks. I've been visiting different nursing homes for a couple of days now because we are looking for the best facility that will temporarily shelter our mom. This is not a good place to leave your loved one. They get a decent rating for staffing but that's just numbers, it does not alert you to the poor quality of care given here. They will drive you crazy with their constant forgetfulness and incompetence. The head nurse is a real piece of work. Avoid at all costs, there is a reason that so many residents have been seen a quarter mile up the road walking in their pajamas, "escaping" from this house of horrors. Looks are deceiving...ignore the beautiful gardens and don't be fooled.

i was employed at morning star for several months, and i can honestly say, i would not send my dog there as a last resort, it would be more humane to put her down. the quality of care is painfully terrible, many of the aides are inconsiderate, mean people, at least to the residents. i filed state complaints on the nurses while employed there. the director of nursing will refuse to listen to any resident regardless of their mental status, she treats them as though they were all crazy and worthless. im not saying this to be vindictive, i was not terminated from employment here, i resigned because i could no longer bite the bullet, money is only worth so much, and its not worth going to work everyday and having to watch my elders being abused and neglected. if i could rate this place as less than fair, i would.

My grandfather ,due to his age, is very short tempered so when we brought him here, he’s really not happy and he kept on nagging all the people assisting him in this facility. I salute all their staff here because despite of my grandapa’s behavior, they still took very good care of him and they managed to handle him very well, they never even tried to shout and be hard on him. Here is a place that's terrific as a nursing home and residence. There are rooms to go around and the nurses are very helpful (and available most of the time!) I'm really happy I chose this place for my grandmother to stay. It'll be hard parting with her but I really want to make sure she finds a home that's both safe, supportive and fun. I've been staying at this hospital for five days now, recovering from surgery. The people here are really nice and some of them are even fun to talk to. I've had to admit my grand dad here to live the rest of his days. I'm a little upset and worried for him but I've found zero reasons to really be worried. We carefully picked a proper home for him and this place has met my family's expectations and then some. They're nice and polite, but also hard working. I haven't met such a professional set of common personnel. The administrator there was courteous enough to give us a quick tour before taking our papers. They didn't take very long to get processed and within a matter one day my gramps was already settling in. The only complaint I would have is the janitorial aspect, which is a bit lacking. The most important thing is the safety and accommodations, and this place has enough of both to keep our minds at ease.

I left my mother in their hands months ago and since then I've been more than just unimpressed with the way things work there. I've visited my mother often, seeing how things were and if the accommodations were enough and apparently the place is normally understaffed, so getting help is a task in itself. For a place so small it would be nice if they could actually get enough people to give their residents the proper attention!

This establishment isn't quite what I was hoping. I left my mother in their hands in good faith, but have found many problems in the first year that she's been here. They're very slow with their paper work and they always seem understaffed. The whole operation seems quite inefficient. My mother has told me that she isn't have a very easy time adjusting to the way they work. She's often waiting around for a nurse to assist her so that she can get on with her day. I would bring her to a new place at the soonest opportunity.

I have a grandfather living here. He has been here for about a year now. So far so good, I can't really complain. They are a bit slow with paperwork (getting anything processed takes a couple of days instead of just overnight) and the staff can sometimes be a bit abrasive. However, my grandfather seems to like it there and even prefer the place over any other. The staff does their job and the accommodations are enough to keep my gramps busy so I'm happy about that.

My grandmother has been living at this nursing home for three years now. At the age of 96 now, I'm happy to hear that she's alive and enjoying her time left on this earth. I was recommended to get a physical and an x-ray here. The entire process must have taken me 3 hours to get done, far more than what I would've liked. I called early that day to schedule an appointment which -to my surprise- I was promised would be done later today. I complied with these timings and came 15 minutes early only to sit in the waiting room for an entire hour. Only then was my name actually called, but not to get my shot. I was called over to be told that there was a complication with the schedule and that I would have to come back later. I was doomed to repeat the same process, waiting another whole hour to finally get my shot. I'm considerably unhappy, I don't think I'll ever go back to this place again.

I spent three days at this place recovering from a rare and severe fever. The doctors and nurses there were very compassionate. Each person that came to check in on me greeted me kindly and gave special care to my needs, even for some that were admittedly a little too needy. They did everything with patience and courtesy. My father was sent to this facility after a hip replacement through Medicare for 14 days rehab. He was registered there from Saturday February 18th through Friday February 24th. I want to say that your facility is lacking in every aspect. There were many things that you did not do, but the biggest problem was that in the 6 days that he spent there, you ran out of his pain meds (Oxycodone) 2 times, keeping him in pain for 8 hours while you replaced his prescription, which came from Milwaukee. Even though his prescription was filled with 30 tabs. I kept a pad of paper and tracked the pain meds after the first mishap (which was on his 3rd day) and on 5th day when you ran out again, I counted them and he was short 4 tabs. ( I still have this pad of paper). You then came back with a piece of paper that said you gave him is night time meds and that my dad just forgot. Not true, he is in perfect mental health and was only in there to get better from hip surgery, I am sure you use this technique quite a bit and get away with it because of the elderly and memory. You then made up a fake schedule and said that he was given these pills. One of your times on the fake schedule was also incorrect which said he received his pain meds at 6:00, but my sister was there at 5;30 am and that was the first time he received them since 10:00 the night before. My dad said nurses were coming in all night and telling him they were sorry that he was in so much pain and that his prescription was on its way. You should be ashamed of yourselves. This is when I had to take him home, even though he was not physically ready. Other incidents that happened: He was never given his insulin when he was suppose to get it and you didn’t change his bandage from 2-21 until the day I took him home which was 2-24. The bandage was dated. One time the occupational therapist had to make my dad breakfast because the nurse gave him all his meds and sent him to therapy without breakfast. If my sister was not there what would have happened to a diabetic person who just received insulin without food and would have been in therapy for a couple of hours? The Therapy department was excellent and I really wanted him to get the therapy that he deserved, which was not possible in such a complete miserable place. I had talked to the Administrator 3 times during his stay, but nothing changed. I know that this place has an internal drug problem, I only fear for the poor people with no one to advocate for them that have to stay here.

It was difficult for me to decide whether to send my mom to a senior home or not. I feel so guilty that I would not be spending time with her everyday anymore. It's my dad's first week in the senior home. So far, everything has been going well with him. They have daily mild exercises for all seniors which I think is also helpful for their health. My dad was a resident at The Heartland Facility for 4 months...well not quite. The last month he paid rent there but was in the Hospital and then a nursing home due to injuries and lack of care at the Heartland. THey have had many investigations and have had fines and were found in non-compliance of state licensing regulations. I would never recommend this place...it's heart breaking to see the care the elderly receive there.

This is a wonderful facility. Each resident gets their own apartment. It was the happiest, coolest, most pleasant place for senior folks I've ever seen. The outside was brick and landscaped, and looked very much like a "regular' apartment building. The inside seemed well-staffed, professional, together, but warm: calendars of activities, highlights about residents and upcoming birthdays, photos of residents and their families. New and superb assisted living facility: highly alert seniors live here and get two meals a day, making their own breakfast in their apartments. Medical care is available and so are activities well beyond shuffleboard: poetry writing group, current events, etc. Outside guests may join residents at meals for a fee. I took a tour of this assisted living community and it was truly a great place for seniors. They have studio, 1bed and 2bedroom apartments available, all equipped with handicap assessable showers. The facility includes a communal double kitchen for family members to come over for thanksgiving, birthdays, and any other special occasion. This area also has a private dining room with a television room available upon reservation. They have a grand dining area where seniors are allowed to choose off a menu daily based on their desires. What else is cool is that each floor has a different theme. There are 3 different floors each with a different feel. It is expensive but seems like a wonderful place for senior independent living.

I am the sister in law of a resident there, Susan Galloway. I would like to know if there is a mail box accessible to her in the immediate area. Susan is wheelchair bound and not able to walk, so this mailbox would have to be within easy reach of her. The reason I ask is, I would like to send Susan some stationary with stamped envelopes for Christmas so that someone can assist her in writing a letter. I communicate with Susan, however it seems a very long time before she is able to respond to my inquires. Hello. A bit of info needed, please. My dad, Fred A. Cupp, was a resident of The Heritage when he passed on Feb. 21, 1994. My brother handled the estate, with no problems, and since that time has moved out of Florida. I want a copy of my dad's will and my brother cannot find his to make me one. What I want to know is--who, in Florida, do I contact to obtain a will copy? Didn't know where else to start and read the death certificate. I'm hoping you can point me in a right direction. My mother stayed at Ottawa Pavilion after her stroke and recieved excellent care. They staff was lovely and were very helpful to my mother. The therapy department did great with her as well and worked with her 2 to 3 times a day. It only took her 2 weeks to build her strength back up and return home!

central park is a sorry excuse for a nursing home the staff is irresponsible,if it weren't for their negligence,my mom would still be alive and what gets me is the staff at upstate hospital wanted to be sure my mom was safe but she sure as hell wasn't safe at central park nursing home atleast 4 or 5 different times she fell out of her wheel chair and on the 4th or 5th fall she banged her head on the floor and had to get a catscan of her head neck and back and surrpisingly was ok,that could of killed her as the floors over there are concrete . not to mention the half dozen times or more that i was called late at night and told she was either wondering out of her room or crawling on the floor or wondering into someones room and sitting on the floor and i don't care what kind of excuse they give for this,there's no excuse for there negligence she fell from a standing height and broke her hip and not a single time was anybody with her like there really should of ben and not to mention the head of the financial office kim alvord is a total bitch, she doesn't deserve her job, judging by her attitude,the prestige has gone to her head she belongs home keeping house for her husband,a kept woman,not out peddling her ass for a living and if they think i'm going to pay the bill for my moms stay at there facility they're dreaming,i'm not responsible for that,i don't give a crap what conversation kim claims i had with her i can't remember it anyway.it's not my fault that medicaid didn't cover it all like they should of but i'm not going to take up the slackfor medicaid and they lost my moms clothes some of which she made years ago.

The Shadyside Nursing Home is a wonderful place to volunteer and the patients and staff all seem to enjoy their days here. Clean and pleasant, the Nursing home is a wonderful way for me to get some outside activity and to interact with some people who really do want someone to talk to in many cases. I enjoyed my volunteer time here very much and suggest that anyone who wants to be well rewarded for their efforts volunteer at Shadyside.

As a fairly young person at the age of fifty I was astonished to find that I was going to have to be in the care of a nursing facility for several weeks until I had healed enough from surgery to be able to attend to my own needs. It was a pleasant surprise to find that I was treated with dignity and compassion during my stay at Greenery Rehab Center and when I was released to my own home I honestly missed the people who had taken care of me. Hats off to Greenery.

The nursing home at Shadyside is a welll appointed clean facility which does have somethin for everyone so far as activities are concerned, but the staff here is where the facility truly shines. Each family member is given the best care possible by staff who seem to be very concerned with their welfare above and beyond what they might give any job.

I have been a visitor to Sugar Creek Station on many weekends, when the staffing there was somewhat short handed due to illness or call-ins. The staff who were on the job those days were doing more than their share of work and still caring for their patients with the utmost consideration. Sugar Creek Station is a lovely nursing care facility with wonderful staff and administration who are concerned with the care of their patients on every level.

I'd like to offer my sincere thanks to the Lutheran home for the excellent care that they gave to my mother during her illness and subsequent death. There was never a time when they did not stay in close communication with us and offered us some real comfort afterwards by their kind acts. We had the occasion to visit Grandview healthcare on several different instances. ALthought he care given here is adequate the the people do seem to be considerate and caring of their patients I could not in good conscience recommend it. While it may have changed over the course of the past few years, when we were visiting there was one nurse at night who was expected to also function as a nurses aid and do bedding checks and other things along with the aides. We were appalled at the short staffing that they used.

No one wants to be in a nursing home, but when I found that I was not able to adequately care for my older sister we truly agonized over the decision for her to move there. She is pleased with her care there and is able to leave the nursing facility to spend days at home with us and gets stronger each day. There isn't a better facility out there when you need a hospital for transitional care for your self or a parent. The care that they receive is excellent and when its time to transition back to the honme environment the support system that you are offered is simply the best with referrans for many other kinds of care for fyour family member.

Las vegas is not what you might consider to be the area where excellent nursing home would exist but based on personal experience nothing is further from the truth.
